Leona Lewis Speaks Out of Attack at Book Signing

In addition to thanking fans for their support post the incident, Leona also apologizes that she wasn't able to meet some other people who had been queuing to get her autograph.

On Thursday, October 15, just one day after she became the subject of an attack while having a book signing session in London, Leona Lewis took it to her official site to address the incident. In a short post she expressed her feeling, writing "Yesterday was a horrible shock and left me extremely hurt and upset."

She went on, "I'm very sorry to those I wasn't able to meet at the signing. Thank you again for all of the lovely messages." The "Bleeding Love" hitmaker also wrote, "Thank you so much for your support it is truly overwhelming."

Leona Lewis was signing autographs and posing for photographs for fans who attended the launching of her new autobiography "Dreams" at Waterstone's book store in Piccadilly in central London on Wednesday, October 14 when "a guy came up and punched her to the side of the head," her representative confirmed.

The songstress quickly went to see a doctor as a precaution, but did not need hospital treatment. Due to the incident, Leona was forced to pull out a scheduled appearance in the BBC's "The One Show" later that night. Meanwhile, the attacker, which is identified as Peter Kowalczyk, has been put in custody and is facing possible actual bodily harm charge. The 29-year-old man reportedly due in court on October 26.
