34-year-old Katt Williams was arrested in suburban Atlanta, Georgia on Sunday, November 8 after allegedly breaking into a house located in Newnan, about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta and stealing $3,555 worth of jewelry and collectible coins. He was said bringing a crowbar when he entered the building. His bail was set at more than $41,000.
Williams' lawyer William Briggs, however, denied the allegations, insisting that his client had been staying for three weeks with "full permission" on the reported property which belongs to producer Barry Hankerson while filming a movie. Briggs claimed Williams was involved in a dispute with one of Hankerson's employees, who made false story on the incident.
"Mr. Williams wears more than that in jewelry on his person," Briggs said in a statement. Meanwhile, Alan Clarke, a Georgia attorney who represented Williams in court chimed in, "This is a misunderstanding which will work out quickly." Williams' next court appearance is not yet known as of the press time.
