"I do know there was a blog report that Oprah had personally called Mr. Woods himself - that is not true," Don Halcombe, spokesman for "Oprah Winfrey Show" said. Oprah allegedly requested for on-camera interview with his wife Elin Nordegren by his side. "Everyone around him believes it is the only way he will salvage any respect or even attempt to rebuild his family man image," a source told Mirror.
Oprah is not the only one vying to get one of the year's biggest "gets". HBO Sports, ESPN and Golf Channels had communicated their intention to have the golfer for one-on-one. "As you would expect in a situation like this, we are pursuing it through all possible avenues," ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said. Meanwhile, Golf Channel spokesman Dan Higgins said, "Regardless of recent events, we're always looking for opportunities to talk with Tiger." HBO has been rejected.
Nevertheless, Oprah is said to be on the lead because she has the tendency to put her guests in a better light. Also, she is a friend of Woods whom she had for an interview in 1997.
